Emily Smith
Emily Smith, the seventh of ten children, grew up close enough to BYU to hear the fans cheering during football games. Her siblings are her dearest friends, and they say her superpower is her steadiness and emotional intelligence—traits that align with her chosen career in Human Resources.
After leaving Utah at a young age for job opportunities, Emily settled in Boston, MA, where she discovered her love for HR at IBM. During her time in Boston, she formed lifelong friendships and had many adventures, including living with Margret Rey, the author of Curious George.
Emily later moved back to Utah, where she met her husband, Stan. They have two sons. She worked at GE Medical until her boys were in grade school, then took a part-time job at their school. After sending her oldest to college, Emily began working at BYU in central HR as an HR Business Partner, taking advantage of the employee tuition benefit.
Her oldest son, Peter, is a sophomore at BYU, and her youngest, Creighton, is serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Michigan. Emily enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She and Stan, with their dog Lucy, live near BYU, where they prefer watching football games with friends from the comfort of their sofa.
