Jonathan Sandberg
Jonathan Sandberg, Ph.D., joined the faculty in the School of Family Life at Brigham Young University in the fall of 2008. Prior to coming to BYU he completed his doctoral work in Marriage and Family Therapy at Kansas State University in 1998 and joined the faculty at Syracuse University that same year. He worked at SU in the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy as a full time faculty member (teaching, research, administration) for 10 years before coming to BYU. His research interests are centered on the relationship between emotional/physical health problems and marital dynamics. He has authored or co-authored numerous papers on attachment, marital quality, depression, and couple related health issues. In addition, Dr. Sandberg has an on going interest in MFT outcome research that highlights and validates the unique
strengths of systems based therapy, particularly as they relate to health related issues. He has also worked with families, couples and individuals as a family therapist for 20 years in across three different states. He is a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and Supervisor (EFT). Most importantly, Jonathan has the unique honor and privilege of being married to Sharon Jannelli Sandberg, his best friend and sweetheart, and they are the parents of 4 wonderful and vibrant children.
