Before the Event
- Clarify the Purpose with Sensitivity – This event is about spiritual connection and fellowship. While some may participate in temple ordinances, others may prefer to enjoy the peace of the temple grounds or simply be present for the gathering afterward. Everyone is welcome, and all participation is meaningful.
- Communicate Options Clearly – In event invitations and announcements, let attendees know that whether they enter the temple or not, they are valued and included. Those without a current recommend, or who are not members of the Church, are warmly invited to walk the temple grounds, visit the waiting area, or join the post-temple gathering.
- Coordinate Temple Appointments – Encourage attendees to schedule temple ordinances in advance, especially if it’s a busy temple.
- Arrange a Post-Temple Gathering – If possible, plan a simple social afterward (e.g., at a nearby restaurant, chapel, or home) for a meal, or light refreshments and sharing.
- Encourage Spiritual Preparation for All – Regardless of temple participation, invite attendees to prepare spiritually through prayer, scripture study, or personal reflection.
During the Event
- Be Welcoming and Attentive – Designate greeters who can help attendees feel comfortable, especially those who may not be entering the temple. Let them know they are just as much a part of the event.
- Facilitate Alternative Experiences – Encourage those not entering the temple to explore the peaceful beauty of the grounds, reflect in the waiting area, or take time for quiet prayer and meditation. If possible, provide a simple guided discussion or devotional outside the temple.
- Promote a Spirit of Unity – Remind everyone that temple attendance is deeply personal, and we honor everyone’s journey. The goal is to uplift and strengthen one another, regardless of where each person is in their faith or temple participation.
After the Event
- Create a Welcoming Space for Gathering – Whether inside or outside the temple, provide an opportunity for everyone to reconnect and share uplifting experiences. Those who spent time on the grounds may have just as meaningful insights as those who participated in ordinances. Share a meal or treat at a favorite restaurant.
- Express Gratitude for All Who Attended – Follow up with a message emphasizing the value of each person’s presence and participation. Let them know they are loved and appreciated, no matter how they engaged with the event.
- Invite Further Engagement – Encourage continued fellowship through future events, temple attendance, or involvement with North Star International.
- By being intentional in messaging and planning, the event can truly be a Temple Fellowship Day—one that welcomes and uplifts everyone, regardless of their level of temple participation.
Note: Attendance may vary depending on the location of your temple and the date of the event. Don’t be discouraged, keep trying.
