General Information

Conference FAQs

The 2025 North Star Annual Conference is an invaluable resource for individuals who experience same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria and wish to live a Christ-centered life full of peace and joy. This conference is also a resource for family members, friends and Church leaders who wish to gain understanding and desire to support those who experience same-sex attraction or gender incongruence.

The conference includes keynote addresses, musical performances, and breakout sessions featuring church leaders, scholars, therapists, and entertainers. Additionally, we offer the ability to purchase conference recordings.

North Star International is a non-profit organization and an Independent Advocate for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We encourage anyone 18 years of age and older to join us for this incredible conference.

Bookstore

Please support our North Star Bookstore. This year we will have snacks and drinks available for purchase!

Choir Practice

Please join us for choir practice! We will be performing during the Saturday morning keynote address. Practices are as follows:

  • Thursday, 8:00pm: Join us after the opening social in the primary room.
  • Friday, 6:00pm: Join us after the final keynote session on the stage in the main ballroom.
  • Saturday, 7:30am:  Join us before conference begins on the stage in the main ballroom.

Closed Door Sessions

Everyone, including church leaders, may attend any breakout session during the conference. However, we do ask closed door sessions to be specific for that demographic, so please do not attend unless you are specific to that demographic.

Conference Recordings

Remember to purchase your copy of the conference recordings if you haven’t done so already! They can be purchased along with your ticket through Eventbrite, during the conference, or through Vimeo afterwards. The recordings will be ready 6-8 weeks after the conference and you will be emailed a code to download them on Vimeo once they are available.

Dress Code

Business casual dress is requested. We ask individuals refrain from wearing or displaying any clothing or accessories that convey any messaging. The intent is to create an atmosphere where all are welcome and attendees are not distracted by potentially divisive imagery, such as rainbows, political slogans or any other messaging.

First-time Attendees

Conference can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Opening Social
Be sure to attend the first-timer’s meeting on Thursday evening before the opening social. This is a great way to learn what to expect and make some new friends. Learn more here.

The Conference
During the conference, look for a friendly face wearing a green lanyard or an individual wearing their navy blue NORTH STAR polo. They’ll be happy to help you make the most of your time here. We also encourage you to strike up a conversation with those sitting at your table during lunches and dinner. Friends are everywhere! You’re among family at the conference and you’re not alone!

Giving Back

Many people who have benefited from the resources and community North Star provides have asked what they can do to help. North Star holds conferences, firesides, socials, and produces helpful video content. These activities are funded or subsidized through generous donations. Please consider donating today. You can donate here.

Meals

Lunch is on your own. Food trucks will be available onsite and we encourage you to get your food and return to the main ballroom for socializing and networking.

Dinner is included in a two day conference ticket and the Saturday only ticket. Dinner will be served between the final keynote presentation and the evening sharing session.

Name Badges

Name badges need to be worn at all times to maintain access to the conference – if you aren’t wearing one for the correct day, you will be asked to go to the registration table and get one. This includes any session guests.

Photographs/Videos

STILL PHOTOGRAPHS
Photographs taken during the conference may be used on the North Star websites, within social media posts, thumbnail images for streaming video, presentation slide decks, emails, event graphics, future event programs, and other printed marketing materials. By wearing a non-red neck lanyard at this event, you are giving consent for North Star to use STILL photo images of you in any of these ways with no further notice to you.

VIDEOS
Red lanyards DO NOT apply to the video taping of our keynote and breakout sessions. It is the responsibility of the individual to stay out of camera view and sit in an area outside of the camera viewing area. Faces of those wearing red lanyards WILL NOT be removed from these conference recordings. Please be aware that conference recordings are available online.

Session Surveys

We encourage you to fill out a session survey for each session you attend (keynote and breakout sessions). We use this feedback to improve our conferences each year.

Sharing Session

The sharing session is a wonderful opportunity for all attendees to share their thoughts and experiences about conference. This takes place Saturday evening at 7:00pm.

Youth Program

This year the youth/parent program will hold it’s own retreat in the summer of 2025 separate from the conference. More information about the retreat can be found on the Youth/Parent Retreat page.
